The Best Online Yoga Teacher Trainings (2026)

The best online yoga teacher training for you depends on one question most roundups skip: are you trying to become a teacher, or are you already one and want to teach something new? Those are different purchases. This guide compares ten programmes on the things that actually change your outcome (live contact hours, Yoga Alliance status, refund terms, and what the price really buys), and it tells you plainly where our own school fits and where it does not.

The short answer

If you need a foundational 200-hour certificate and RYT-200 registration, our pick is our own online 200-hour: start with the online component for $999 now, then upgrade to complete and graduate fully online once the remaining modules are released, expected by December 2026. We release the fully online modules progressively rather than all at once, because every module is filmed, edited and checked to the same standard as our in-person training, and doing that properly takes time. You start learning straight away and new modules open as they’re finished. If you already teach and want a specialism such as breathwork or yin, a YACEP continuing education course costs less and goes deeper.

How we chose these programmes

We run a yoga school in Kedungu, Tabanan, so you should know that up front. Our 200-hour training runs in Bali, and since 2026 its online component can be bought on its own and finished either in person or online. We have put ourselves first on this list, which is exactly what you would expect a school to do with its own ranking, so read our entry the way you would read a rival’s and check the numbers.

Every programme below was checked on 21 October 2026 against its own website, and against Yoga Alliance’s published standards where a registration claim was made. We recorded hours, delivery format, accreditation, price, who the programme suits, and one honest limitation. Where a school does not publish a price, we say so rather than repeating a number from a review site.

We did not rank by follower count, by how many countries a school claims graduates in, or by the size of the discount on the sales page. Discounts on online trainings move weekly and a struck-through “regular price” is often a number nobody has ever paid. What matters is the live contact you get, the feedback on your teaching, the terms if you change your mind, and whether the credential does what you need it to do.

One rule sits underneath everything else. Since 2024, Yoga Alliance has allowed Registered Yoga Schools to run trainings fully online, but requires at least 15 percent of programme hours to be synchronous, which for a 200-hour training means a minimum of 30 hours where teachers and students are online together in real time. That is documented in the Standards for RYS Credentials. A “fully self-paced” 200-hour course that leads to RYT-200 registration has to be meeting that minimum somewhere, and you should ask how.

Loka Yoga School Online 200hr: the best online yoga teacher training if you want a working school behind it

This is our school, so here’s the honest background. For years we didn’t offer a 200-hour training online at all. Since COVID, Yoga Alliance has pushed schools like ours to move teacher training online, and we said no. We both trained the classical way, with teachers of the old school, and we didn’t believe a screen was the place to learn how to teach.

What changed our minds was watching where students went instead. Some ended up in online schools we know well, schools that fall far short on integrity and honesty, and the teaching wasn’t close to the standard a new teacher needs. They came out with a certificate and didn’t feel prepared to teach at all. So we went against our own instincts and built a 200-hour training online, held to the same standard as our in-person training, so more people can learn with a school that teaches with integrity, honesty and love.

Here is how it works. For $999 you get 24 months of access to the online part of our 200-hour programme: the lectures, practices and assignments, taught by Taryn Weggelaar, E-RYT 500, and Yann Cadic, who teaches anatomy and physiology from a background in cardiac surgery, intensive care nursing and tropical medicine, then years as an advanced care paramedic and remote site medic. Work through it at your own pace. Once the remaining modules are released you can upgrade to complete and graduate fully online; the upgrade price will be announced. Graduates register as RYT-200 through Loka’s Yoga Alliance RYS 200, the same registration our Bali graduates have held since 2017.

What to know before you buy. We’re releasing the fully online modules progressively, not all at once. Every module is filmed, edited and checked to the same standard as our in-person training, and doing that properly takes time. We expect every module to be live by December 2026. Start now and you receive each new module as it’s finished. The $999 online component is non-refundable. Access is 24 months.

Who it suits. People who want to learn real yoga, not just a list of asanas, and who want to learn how to teach properly, with plenty of teaching practice and expert teachers, from home and at their own pace.

Good to know. The upgrade to graduate fully online will be priced when it’s released.

What graduates say.

“Yann (the anatomy teacher) and Taryn (the lead asana and philosophy teacher) go far beyond the basics needed for a Yoga Alliance certified course.”

Sherry Rickard (Canada)

“The entire program is very well-structured, delivering knowledge in an exciting, engaging manner that is neither boring nor tiring.”

Mehrnaz Zouqi (USA)

“The courses perfectly build one on the other. The teachers are all very passionate and committed to their practice and teaching.”

Hanna Emlein (Germany)

Already a teacher? Our YACEP continuing education courses (50-hour breathwork, 50-hour yin, 20-hour meditation, 100-hour philosophy and more) are $249 to $588 each, and the full breakdown is on the online yoga teacher training prices page.

Uplifted Online Yoga Teacher Training (Brett Larkin)

Uplifted is the most structured programme on this list. You can take it self-paced or with a group cohort, and either way it requires attendance at one of three weekly 90-minute live calls. The school states 66 synchronous hours, more than double the Yoga Alliance minimum of 30, and it is registered as RYS 200 with the ID published on the page.

Graduation requires passing a multiple-choice exam and submitting a 20-minute video of you teaching. You get personalised asana review from photographs and real-time feedback on practice teaching. Materials and call recordings are yours for life, and you have 18 months from your start date to complete the requirements.

Who it suits

You want a fixed start, a peer group that finishes with you, and a school that will notice if you disappear. If you know you drift on self-paced courses, this is the format that keeps you honest.

Limitations

Tuition is not on the page. You have to download a brochure to see it; the page shows payment plans from $199 a month. The terms of sale state that tuition is non-refundable because materials are released on purchase, and non-attendance does not make it refundable. Deferring within 30 days of the start costs $550. Budget roughly $75 for the required manual and books on top.

Siddhi Yoga 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

Siddhi Yoga is a Rishikesh-rooted school that has moved a large part of its teaching online. The 200-hour programme combines 250 or more video lessons with daily live sessions across multiple time zones, but the page no longer states a total number of live hours, so ask how the Yoga Alliance minimum of 30 is met. The school describes itself as Yoga Alliance accredited, and graduates are eligible for RYT-200.

Pricing on the day we checked (an early-bird offer with no end date) was $397 for the standard package and $547 for the professional package, with $597 and $847 shown as regular prices. Standard gives six months of course access and six months of Zoom classes; professional gives lifetime course access and 12 months of Zoom. Extensions are $10 a month. There is a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Who it suits

You want an Indian lineage, live contact every day if you want it, and a price that will not stop you doing it. Subtitles in ten languages and a manual in five make it a sensible choice if English is not your first language.

Limitations

The standard package’s six-month clock is short if life gets in the way, and the paid extension is a cost most people do not budget for. The community lives partly in a private Facebook group, which will not suit everyone.

Back to the comparison table

Arhanta Yoga 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

Arhanta is a Netherlands-based ashram school led by Dr Ram Jain, ERYT-500 and YACEP. The online 200-hour is a hatha training delivered as 140 hours of video, a 300-page manual, weekly live Zoom support calls, and a final practicum where you plan and teach a class for assessment. The school states a 1:8 teacher-to-student ratio and limits monthly intake to keep it.

Access is lifetime, with lifetime teacher support. The refund policy is a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you can preview up to a quarter of the course inside that window. Arhanta is also CRKBO registered in the Netherlands, which matters if you are claiming the training as professional education there.

Who it suits

You want classical hatha rather than vinyasa, you want a named lead teacher with a long record, and you want your practicum actually assessed by a person at a small ratio.

Limitations

The price is shown only at checkout, so treat it as check current pricing. The programme is hatha; if you intend to teach flow classes, you will be learning sequencing elsewhere.

Drishti Beats 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

Drishti Beats, led by Lori and Jeremy Lowell (both E-RYT 500), has been an RYS 200 since 2015. The training is self-paced but anchored by weekly live “Gather Round” calls on Thursdays at 12pm and 7pm Eastern, one-on-one mentor sessions, live web chat, and personal feedback on recorded teaching.

The price was $594 in full or four payments of $148.50 with no surcharge. Access is lifetime with curriculum updates included, and you can request a full refund within seven days of registering.

Who it suits

You want mentorship and live practice teaching without committing to a cohort start date, and you like a school whose Yoga Alliance reviews are numerous and public.

Limitations

The live calls are at fixed US Eastern times, which is awkward from Australia or Asia. Seven days is a short refund window compared with the 30 days offered by several schools here.

Back to the comparison table

YogaRenew 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

YogaRenew sells the most aggressively of any school here, and it is worth separating the offer from the marketing. The programme is a Yoga Alliance RYS, graduates can register as RYT-200, and the school gives lifetime access with no graduation deadline and a 30-day refund for any reason, minus the cost of course materials.

Live contact is described as optional daily Zoom calls, with mentor feedback and online support. The checkout page shows several prices at once: $347, $397 and $437 depending on the offer, all with $1,637 struck through, or $80 a month over six months.

Who it suits

You are self-directed, you want the lowest price with the longest refund window, and you would rather choose from many optional calls than be told when to attend.

Limitations

The page does not name its lead trainers or state which live hours are required for the 30-hour synchronous minimum, and it does not say whether attendance is mandatory. Ask both questions before you enrol. Treat the struck-through price as marketing rather than a saving.

My Vinyasa Practice 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

My Vinyasa Practice is an Austin-based RYS 200 led by Michelle Young, a certified yoga therapist, with E-RYT 500 and C-IAYT faculty. The 200-hour takes a minimum of nine weeks and combines prerecorded lectures with weekly live calls and weekend Zoom sessions, all recorded.

The price shown was $425 with $850 struck through. Access and mentorship are lifetime, with more than 15 weekly office hours with lead trainers and a peer support team. The school’s landing page states a 30-day no-questions refund.

Who it suits

You want unlimited access to trainers after graduation, and you like the idea of walking into office hours years later when you have a question about a student.

Limitations

The nine-week minimum means you cannot rush it, which is a feature, but the volume of optional sessions can become a reason never to finish. Set your own deadline.

Online Yoga School 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Online Yoga School is led by Steph Ball-Mitchell (E-RYT 500, RPYT, RCYT, YACEP, C-IAYT, LPC) and is registered as RYS 200, 300 and 500, RPYS and RCYS. The 200-hour is described as fully online and self-paced with a bonus 50 hours, and access is lifelong.

The school’s Yoga Alliance FAQ states plainly that 15 percent synchronous learning, or 30 live hours, is required for registration, which is more transparency than most.

Who it suits

You want the lowest published price on this list with lifetime access, and you like the included Restorative, Ayurveda and Chair Yoga courses.

Limitations

The price is $345 one-time, or $85 a month for five months or $75 for six. The refund policy is not stated on the pages we checked, so ask for it in writing before paying.

Yoga Farm Ithaca Radiant Warrior 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

Yoga Farm Ithaca’s Radiant Warrior is a hatha and vinyasa 200-hour with a mindfulness and trauma-informed emphasis. The core curriculum is self-paced and can be finished in as few as six weeks, with most students taking 12 to 16 weeks. Live support is substantial: seven office hours every week with lead educators and more than 20 live sessions a week, all optional and all recorded.

Certification requires watching all material, 30 classes, 30 days of meditation, pose sheets for 36 postures, ten hours of practice teaching, a one-hour teaching video, and a reflective exam. The price is $1,099 or six payments of $219, with discounts of 10 to 30 percent for educators and several other groups.

Who it suits

You want a heavier meditation and mindfulness component than most 200-hour programmes offer, and you like a clear, published list of what you must do to graduate.

Limitations

Live access runs for one year from enrolment, not for life. The refund policy is strict: fully refundable within 72 hours of purchase if the course has not begun, and no refund once the course is under way. The school’s page says “Yoga Alliance approved” rather than quoting an RYS ID, so confirm the registration in the directory before you pay.

Back to the comparison table

Santosha Yoga Institute Online 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Santosha is an Australian school offering a self-paced Level 1 RYT-200 online, with the option to study intensively or spread it out. The course page describes it as a Yoga Alliance RYT-200 training and says graduates can register as RYT-200.

A separate “Lite” course, which is not a certification, is sold at $39 and can be upgraded to the full RYT-200 with the Lite fee credited.

Who it suits

You are in Australia and want a school in your time zone, or you want to try the Lite course before committing to the full training.

Limitations

The full RYT-200 is listed at $399 USD, or three payments of $165, but the same page also shows $750 USD and an AUD monthly plan, so confirm the price before you pay. The refund policy and how the 30 synchronous hours are delivered are not published, so ask directly. Santosha’s own site does not claim Australian government accreditation for this course, and you should not assume it.

Back to the comparison table

“Registered, approved and accredited do not all mean the same thing. Check the RYS 200 designation yourself.”

How to check any online yoga teacher training before you pay

Every school above describes itself as Yoga Alliance registered, approved, or accredited, and those words do not all mean the same thing. Here is how to check for yourself in about 20 minutes.

Search the Yoga Alliance directory for the school by name and confirm it holds an RYS 200 designation, not only a YACEP or an RYT listing for an individual teacher. A YACEP is a continuing education provider; its courses count toward continuing education hours for registered teachers, but they do not make you an RYT-200. That distinction is why our 50-hour online courses in breathwork, yin and meditation sit in a different category from the ten 200-hour programmes here, our own online 200-hour included.

Ask how the 30 synchronous hours are delivered. The Yoga Alliance standard is at least 15 percent of programme hours live, and a school that cannot tell you which calls count, whether attendance is compulsory, and what happens if you miss them has not thought it through. Fixed call times in a distant time zone are a real cost if you live in Australia or Asia, so check the clock before you check the price.

Read the refund policy as a document, not as a slogan. On this list alone you will find 30-day no-questions refunds, 14 days, seven days, 72 hours before the course begins, and non-refundable tuition released on purchase. All of these are legitimate. All of them should be in writing before your card is charged.

Find out who reviews your teaching. Ask whether a named trainer watches your practicum video, how much feedback you get, and whether mentoring is included or sold as a premium tier. If you are reading a struck-through price, ask when anyone last paid the full figure. Then read our guide on how to choose the right yoga teacher training school for the questions that apply whether you train online or in person, and our honest answer on whether a 200-hour training is enough to teach.

Start online, finish where it suits you

Buy the online component, work through it at your own pace, and decide later whether your 50 live hours happen in Bali, in Perth or online. See how the best hybrid yoga teacher trainings compare. If you already teach and want a specialism rather than a 200-hour, the 50-hour breathwork and yin trainings and the meditation bundle are on the prices page.

Frequently asked questions

Is online yoga teacher training legitimate?

Yes, provided the school is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School. Since 2024 Yoga Alliance has permanently allowed RYS programmes to run fully online, and a training that meets its standards leads to the same RYT-200 registration as an in-person course.

You can register as an RYT-200 through Loka’s online 200-hour, or after completing an online 200-hour training from another Yoga Alliance RYS 200. Yoga Alliance does not certify teachers itself; it registers schools and teachers. Your certificate comes from the school, and your registration comes after.

Published prices on this list ran from $345 to $1,099 on 21 October 2026, with several schools showing sale prices between $347 and $594 and regular prices struck through. Some schools do not publish a price at all and ask you to download a brochure or go to checkout. Loka’s online component is $999, with the upgrade to fully online graduation priced on release. Continuing education courses for existing teachers, such as Loka’s 50-hour breathwork and yin trainings, are $249 to $588 each.

An RYS 200 is a Registered Yoga School authorised to run the foundational 200-hour training that leads to RYT-200 registration. A YACEP is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider whose courses count as continuing education hours for teachers who are already registered. Loka’s 50-hour online trainings are YACEP continuing education; Loka’s online 200-hour and the other nine programmes in this guide are RYS 200 trainings.

Yes. An RYT-200 earned through an online RYS 200 programme is the same registration as one earned in person, and studios and insurers do not usually distinguish between the two. What they do notice is how you teach, which is why we weight live feedback on your practice teaching so heavily in this comparison.

Of the programmes we checked, Uplifted states 66 synchronous hours with mandatory weekly calls, Siddhi Yoga states daily live sessions but no longer gives a total of live hours, and Yoga Farm Ithaca and My Vinyasa Practice both offer many weekly office hours that are optional. Ask each school which hours are compulsory and which are extras.

It is enough to register and to start teaching beginners, and it is not the end of your education. Most teachers add specialist training within the first few years, which is where continuing education courses in breathwork, yin, meditation, or philosophy come in. Our article on whether a 200-hour training is enough to teach covers this in more detail.
